http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jediism

"Jediism is a non-theistic new religious movement[1] based upon the philosophical and spiritual ideas of the Jedi as depicted in Star Wars media.[2]

The real-world Jedi assert the existence of the Force, and advocate adherence to the Jedi code.[3] According to recent censuses in some English-speaking countries, over 500,000 people declared their religion as Jedi, in addition many Jedi churches/Temples exist around the world."

Remember they ridiculed the first Christians as well.:naughty:

L. Ron Hubbard would be proud ...

May the force be with you - and hopefully, TOLERANCE as well.

The apostle paul pegged it over 2000 years ago on Mars hill when he addressed all the sophisticated Greeks.
He said I see you are too religious, you see even the early Greeks had covered every base and Paul told them the God you unknowingly recognize is the One God.

Religion aside, I think the reemergence of cloaks, capes, and robes would be hopelessly bad when combined with things they can get caught on (mailboxes, cactus, combines).

They do look cool and futuristic though.

He said I see you are too religious,

I would have to agree with Paul.

Jediism isn't any more far fetched than other organized religions, as far as I'm concerned.

I'm going to paraphrase a '60s sitcom.

Granny Clampet said, Jed and I take prayers with the baptist and sing with the methodist......but basically we are "Golden Rulers"

If only we were all Golden Rulers.

That's EXCELLENT, John!! I don't remember that line from the Beverly Hillbillies, but it is certainly a great one!!

I, too, am a "Golden Ruler", with no religious affliliation. You're right, if there were more people who acted like Christians, instead of just saying they are because they attend church, this would be a much better place! :hypocrite:

Yeah Daisy!

I am with you! A Church or a religion doesn't make one spiritual OR a better person. I know this from my own experiences.

As a child my folks didn't attend church so all of my exposure to religion was through visiting a variety of churches with friends. I am actually very glad I had those opportunities.

In the 1980's-1990's I was a Born Again in fundamental churches, some independant and some denominational belonging to a larger body. Oh the hypocrisy I experienced. From sermon after sermon putting other religions and beliefs down to being told my wonderful mother was going to hell when cancer killed her because she was not "born again", to ministers committing adultry with staff members but easily forgiven and welcomed back while I was rejected for divorcing my emotionally abusive husband. Condemnation and judgement were rampant.

I am SO thankful that I eventually found a church whose motto was "One God Many Paths" and who welcomed all persons of all faiths, beliefs, lifestyles. Your personal path to your personal God were honored. Often guest speakers included Buddhists, Muslims, or Gays. We supported other churches and some supported us and after 9/11 a group from many backgrounds joined to create an annual Celebration of Unity concert. It didn't surprise me that the fundamental churches never participated.

As for me, I have been on a wandering path all my life and for that I am grateful because my focus has always been on God, but my experiences have taken me on many wonderful journeys of discovery.

I am sad that Roswell doesn't have a place where free thinkers on interesting paths can meet to fellowship and share.
