Excellent questions and speeches by a Sonny Schaffer, and a Bill Wood. The mayor was sweating like a $2.00 hooker in a church house. Its amazing what you can learn when you wander around looking lost in city hall. The city provides Mr. Loy a cell phone to use. So since its paid with your tax dollars I think it should be public info. Loy's number is 910-5001 if you need to call him to use your get out of jail, or dismiss my ticket card.

Well, well, well, Mayor Sammy got a little testy last night! Prince Sammy is NOT to be questioned! It appears that our prancing prince, the head of Roswell royalty is above answering questions from the commoners especially when it concerns his head court jester. Is that right Mr. Mayor? Oh, oh, excuse me you highness, that was a question, and those of your stature are above the silly musings mere peasants, we should only praise you, and your all mighty position.
They do get full of themselves don’t they? Good questions Mr. Wood his refusal to answer tells way more than a straight answer, and shows them for what they are. The mayor tried to come off as a tough guy and ended up looking like an Arrogant, snotty little child. (At least thats what he looked like on TV)
I hope you are reading this Sammy boy, because this is what the citizens of this town saw last night. I don't know what your hiney smoocher's are telling you this morning, but we know what we saw.

Billy I thought your questions were good ones and the city counsil never answers them in that forum, but the look on the mayor's face when you asked about his friend Capps was priceless. There was true loathing coming from his eyes and then to dismiss you with a wave of his hand wow! Yes Mr. Wood you have my endorsment for the city counsil. And MR. Mayor if your reading this you don't have my endorsement supporting criminal activity in the counsil and city management you need to resign!!!

I, too, thought both men did a really good job at the podium. Billy did ask questions we all wanted answers too, and was met with hostility and disrespect.
The arrogance of this council and mayor is amazing and astounding. They really have forgotten that they work for us.
At times, I thought Ms. Stubbs forgot that she isn't the Mayor. She just couldn't resist correcting him time and time and time again. The looks of disgust on her face at times was funny. She reminds me of a small town Nancy Pelosi...........:yucky: We really need to elect council members who will stand up to that woman. She's on way to big an ego trip.
I will be attending more City Council meetings and I wish more people would have shown up at this last one.

I am not a fan of Ms. Stubbs, but I would suggest that anyone, including the Mayor and councilors, that attempt to stand up to that woman be prepared with facts and figures and know your subject matter. There are very few times over the years that Ms. Stubbs has been present at a committee meeting our council session that she has been unprepared for that particular session. You may not agree with the message but you should appreciate the fact that time and effort has been expended in the fact finding and detail.
Just the fact that a councilor will question or correct the Mayor or a fellow councilor as has been the case in past sessions as well as last evening with the corrections of fact when dealing with public interests indicates that the person is making an attempt to do the job elected for.
Again agreement with Ms. Stubbs is sometime hard to find but you cannot fault the lady for her knowledge of specific issues. If the entire council, and the Mayor, would make that same effort there would be a great increase in the substance coming out of city hall.

You're right Rocket, but she doesn't have to be so smug and high and mighty about it. It's rather sickening. And, there were several points that she really could have conceded because they weren't that important. It's just not necessary to pick at every little thing just to prove you're superior.
No one should enjoy making him/herself look good by making others look bad. That's all I'm saying.

Yeah, its just government work, details and corrections arent that important. No need to embarrass anyone just because they were not prepared.

Judy Stubbs needs to go with the rest of them. She has not stood up for what is right. She apparently has no issue trying to put anyone in their place but she still defends and supports Lavato. Ms. Stubbs has not spoken publicly about the John Capps, Larry Loy, and seemingly Sam Lagrone disregard for the law and due process of the law. So in my opinion she is no better than those who committed the crime.
How about Mayor Sam's comment about the water rate increases,
"FROM WHAT I HEARD, IT'S A VERY HIGH INCREASE"
It is very high Sam, just read your agenda in front of you, do the math!!:ohwell:
Does the leader need to be led?:yikes:

I had a migraine headache last night and woke up about 8pm and didn’t remember about the CC meeting till 8:30 or so, I watch the last hour or so on TV, I seen Billy And Daisy seating in the room and not wanting to miss Billy and daisy talking I watched as people that could not speak English try and talk to the CC, what a joke, should have had INS waiting outside.
Mr. Schaffer and Mr. Wood did a fantastic job, it may have been a good thing that I was at home and didn’t make the meeting because I would have unloaded on the mayor for disrespecting a citizen of this town, and being a arrogant ******* IMO.
I’m out of town now and won’t be home till Tuesday evening, but come Wednesday I will be calling the mayor’s office asking when is the next QUESTION AND ANSWER meeting is. Can anybody get a copy of the tape from the meeting???? This will look really good on a BIG SCREEN TV come election Time.
Do you think I could have called Loy and used my GET OUT OF JAIL FREE CARD.?

On another topic at the CC meeting: Whitwam's resignation.
"Whitwam said she will be happy to offer advice to the mayor as he chooses her replacement, but added that she is sure he knows many qualified potential appointees." ref: http://www.roswell-record.com/main.asp?SectionID=49&SubSectionID=112&ArticleID=44235&TM=43084.17
Well, here we go again. Besides being over 18 and a registered voter, what do you think the other qualification might be? Fish, your welcome to chime in again on this topic.
This would a great opportunity for Mayor Sam to do something for the people of Roswell. Select a replacement that cares for and will support the residents. The only person I know in Ward One that could do the job is that lady that always writes letters to the editor: Toni Wiebenga. It sounds like she really cares and isn't afraid to speak up. I don't see her following Mayor Sam around. She sounds like a perfect fit for this council term and the next.
If Sam doesn't select someone that supports the people, then that person will probably be bombarded with emails and decide not to re-run in 2010 when Whitwam's term is up. Marlin Wells, also appointed, only lasted 2 years and he never voted the way his constituents wanted. By his own admission to me when I asked him, he followed his own personal truth, not that of the people he was supposed to serve.
I’m sure Sam will find his own personal ‘yes’ man. AND I say ‘man’ because it would surprise the hell out of me if he selected a woman.
I say, he should replace a Whitwam Woman with a Wiebenga Woman. For me, that would be a Win-Win.

I think Toni Wiebenga would be a great addition to the City Council. She has my full support. Ive read several posts of members wanting city ordinances cleaned up, repealed, or changed. I think she would be an excellent person to do this, I'll give her my ordinance book any day to look at and change. Not sure if she would consider taking the job, but you have my support, and I know of others that would also support you too, Toni.
Now off the subject, sorry I know, but can someone post the boundry lines for the different wards please. And if possible post who is currently on the council in those wards too. Thanks.

J, I hate to correct you but Mr. Vega does speak English. It was his intent to get a sympathy vote from the City Council. Oh, poor Mr. Vega didn’t understand what he paid for and we should give him his $150 back. Bull Sh*t. The man fully understood and so did his daughter. Mr. Vega never asked for his money back either, but our City Council gave him the guilt vote 5 to 4. I was please that Lee Rogers voted against the refund. I didn’t understand why this refund even came up. The man bought a non-refundable permit for $150 3-4 years ago and completed his car port years ago also. All Mr. Vega wanted was a variance to keep his car port. This is a good example of how stupid our City Council acts sometimes. Mr. Vega violated city law and he needs to correct the problem on his own nickel. No special consideration for law breakers. Right! Unless of course, your name is Capps
The Ward Districts map are on the hallway wall where the City Planner's office is located. Stop in to introduce yourself to our new City Planner when you check the maps. I requested the maps be put on the city web site. We'll see or maybe we won't.
I thought these maps were on TR at one time. Maybe Billy will read this and direct us to where they are today.

Sorry Kral, I disagree. If the city does not follow state permitting law, why should Mr. Vega? Laws are for all of us, including the city. Laws are supposed to be indiscriminate, not punitive. I posted on the fact that the cities own projects are not permitted. The city may feel that they are above the laws they expect their citizens to abide by, but they are not. I believe code enforcement was correct in citing Mr. Vega, but they should abide by the same laws they hold him to. If the city can skirt the law, so can Mr. Vega. We are supposed to all be equal under the law. Right?

CJ, if you read through my sarcasm, I think you will see we do agree. If there is a law, it applies to everyone, except if there are exemptions, like in tax laws.
Do you think we should get rid of 'all' exemptions?
