Hello everyone, Texasdawg here...
Looking forward to talking to everyone...and maybe seeing some of you in the future. The wife an I have decided to move to Roswell in Jan. We live in The Woodlands at the moment (just north of Houston) and need a change of venue and scenory.
One guarantee about life in Roswell vs. Houston-area...
... no traffic jams!!!
One pointer regarding Talk Roswell - notice the ratio of negative vs. positive Smilies to the right.... :yikes:

Why Roswell? You opened the can of worms, so I have to ask. Why Roswell? Without traffic, it is also much quieter hear/here too.

That is a very good question. There are a couple of reasons.
1. The wife an I have families in Texas and Arizona. Why not live in New Mexico between the families. There are to far for weekly visits...but not far enough for the holidays.
2. Love the idea of a town that is not to big AND not to small and the weather is pretty decent all year around.
3. The history that not only surronds Roswell but the entire state and there is so much to do.
4....and of course the whole UFO THING that the town is known for...among other things. When people ask.."Were do you live?"" I get to see the expression on there face when I say Roswell, New Mexico...PRICELESS!!!

Are you retired or plan to work? What kind of business? Owner or employee?
You deserve a bit back from me.
My wife and I came here in 2005 for none of your reasons. We had family here and I already had my house flipping business going in Northern CA. Started a home restoration business here after only 1 flip (market went further south than I was willing to go) and now I'm am looking for new opportunities again. I am self employeed and always will be.

Well, I am a little of both.
Retired from the Fire service in 2007 after 20 years. I have been in the safety field for 15 years and it has gone to crap here in Houston. Got laid off a few months ago and know I am looking for another oppurtuinty. Started a Safety consultinh gig 3 months ago and it has been pretty slow.
Been looking at the job market in roswell for the last couple pf days. Not alot but I feel the same way you do. I need to work for myself.
