Officers were dispatched to the 1300 block of North Main on the report that someone had left Farley's without paying for their food. The subject tried to pay with a check but the establishment does not accept checks. The subject left to a car in the parking lot but the manager confronted her there. The subject gave the manager a temporary VISA card but left the parking lot. Police contacted the owner of the check and card who told them her daughter had taken the items and a report had been filed with the Hobbs Police Department. Officers are seeking a warrant for the arrest of Stephanie Smith on charges of falsely obtaining services.
A breaking and entering was reported at Tire Trax in East College. The owner was called to the business the night before due to a burglar alarm. After checking the business at that time there didn't appear to be anything out of place but upon arrival at the business Tuesday, it was discovered that a large hole had been cut in the side of the building with some sort of metal saw. Nothing appeared to have been taken from the business and there are no suspects.
