I'm hoping this will be an informative wed forum where other members of the community will openly express their views on Roswell's activities.;)

Hi Fred welcome to Talk Roswell. I agree with you, I also hope the community will take part in the forum and have some good input.

the only problem with this forum is that it requires time and effort to read and respond. you won't get city government to take the time so we will get very little feedback. most in city government would rather see this forum go bye-bye and the way to do that is - not respond. eventually we will all give up too and you have a dead forum.

i think we need to focus the forum on exchanging ideas between the citizens and residents of Roswell. when a topic gets a lot of attention, we need someone to take is directly to city hall and present it in person. this sometimes doesn't work either because i have seen many people do this and the city just drops it and nothng happens.

before you know it, we all have apathy.

I hope you are wrong. But, If you are right, If we get enought folks talking on this site, We can make the local government liston to us. As the word gets out the city Councal and the county commishinors will start checking this site out. When the people stick together they make an impact. We need to make sure it is a good impact.

Swadlow...I think we can make a difference IF we band together on issuues we feel strongly about and have a spokesperson speak up....even though some may not agree or feel strongly about an issue, they can still attend the meetings to show strength....or speak their own opinions. But for change to take place or to even be heard...we'd need to meet, gather all of the facts and data, write up a statement, select a person to speak at the meetings and then show up in force and identify ourselves. MAYBE then the council would listen...but we have found they vote based on what they decided before the meeting begins and so showing up doesn't cause a blip on their radar....we have attended several meetings and each time felt like it was basically a waste of time...no one really listened and the feeling was almost like they basically tolerated us being there, and dismissed our comments all together...hate to say it, but true.

I wish I could say it wasn't so...but we have experience it first hand.
