To Administrators and Moderators:

Just wanted to let you all know this is what I have to deal with when "I or someone else" post Copyrighted Stuff. This is how cutting and Pasting Articles word for word and Pictures will sooner or later get me in trouble, if it has not already. Even if you give credit to the source most of it if not all, you can not use without written permission. I will let you know the out come of this if there is one.

Posting in your own words and uploading pictures that belong to you is not a problem. This is a discussion forum not a forum for coping and posting from others sources. Please put the information you post in your own words.

I know some of the members think they have the right to post what ever they want to on this forum (Freedom of Speech) and no one should delete any of it but they don't.

I will post this email on the forum so the members will know when something gets deleted they will know why.

My minimum web licensing fee is $125.00, which I will be fine to charge you on the condition that the photo is immediately removed from the website. Thank you for your prompt dealing with this. At the same time, a link for a week or 2 doesn't compensate me 6 months of free usage. As I said earlier, my minimum website usage is $125.00. Typically, for instances where someone uses an image without compensation, I would invoice them a higher market price for the usage. However, I don't think $125.00 is unreasonable, given the usage, and the scope and traffic of your website.

My copyright lawyer will be in touch, unless you'd rather make some effort to resolve the matter. For a look at market rates on website images, you might want to look at seth resnicks stock photo pricing site.

You'll see, I think, that a $125.00 charge is not unreasonable.

Yikes! Wasn't the article with the picture an email before it was posted on the forum? I had no idea that would be a copyright infringement, since it had been sent all around in an email - what about when we post links to other sites for an article or picture? Is that an infringement, too? I don't know the copyright laws and what can or can't be done regarding articles and pictures.

You can post links to their web sites where the information is located just not copy and post the information on your web site.

Thanks, Roswell. I was just Googling ANWR pictures and found that particular picture on about 6 different sites. A lot of sights had the same article and pictures, minus that one picture. If the guy is charging each site $125.00 , he's making some bucks....

Yeah, it's kinda like he's sayin', "I'll do this if you don't pay this." There's a word for that sort of thing..... I'd like to know how the heck he saw that post on little ol' Talk Roswell. The whole thing seems a bit fishy to me.....
